Even Piell was a Lannik Jedi Master and was one of the last Jedi to serve on the Jedi Council of the Old Republic. As a Lannik, Piell hailed from the world of the same name. His diminutive stature was made up for by his strength in the Force. Achieving the rank of Jedi Master, Piell received the great honor of being asked to serve on the Jedi Council, a position he accepted many years before the Council's destruction during the Clone Wars.
In addition to the honorific title and position, Piell sported a gruesome scar on the left side of his face over a missing eye. As a Jedi Knight, Piell worked for the royal family of Lannik and was present when a group calling themselves the Red Iaro terrorists attacked the Lannik High Court in a coup attempt, also attacking visiting Corellian diplomats. The diplomats were also the parents of fellow Jedi Master and Council member, Adi Gallia. Single-handedly, Even defeated seven of the terrorists, but not before they claimed his eye and left him with a scar he would proudly display the rest of his days as a symbol of honor and bravery.
Piell was never one to back down from a fight, taking part in the defense of the Jedi Temple during the Yinchorri Uprising where Yinchorri soldiers infiltrated the Jedi Temple itself. Additionally, when it appeared the Red Iaro terrorists sought negotiations with the ruling family of Lannik following the Battle of Naboo, Even Piell led a mission to oversee the terms of agreement. The meeting was held on the planet of Malastare during the Vinta Harvest Classic podrace. Piell was joined by fellow Jedi Masters Mace Windu, Adi Gallia, Plo Koon, Yaddle, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and his newly acquired Padawan, A'Sharad Hett.
