Surveying the site was a group of droids and Obi-Wan's headstrong and angry student, Anakin, rushed in to destroy them. During the ensuing fight, Glaive and the Jedi learned that this was indeed a test site for a new chemical weapon the CIS hoped to use in the war against the Republic. The test was carried out by the ancient and immense bounty hunter Durge alongside Dark Jedi Asajj Ventress, both of whom soon joined the fight. Ruthless and cunning Durge and Ventress released more of the chemical making the Jedi's fight against the murderers much more difficult. Glaive and the Jedi's concentration had to be split between using the Force to resist the chemical while still battling Durge and the droids.

On top of that, they had to witness the effectiveness of the gas as it burned, boiled, and blistered their skin, making any attempts to resist ultimately futile. Their only salvation being to escape the area. The Jedi fought hard against the bounty hunter, Glaive even battling him in a bare-knuckle brawl. But Durge had fought against Jedi before and had many tricks up his sleeve. Glaive was almost forced to watch his Padawan, Zule, be killed as Durge held her hostage. Rescued by Obi-Wan Kenobi, Zule was safe for the moment.

Obi-Wan and Glaive stood back to back in the march fighting droids and the chemical. Unfortunately for Glaive, Asajj's entrance to the fight cut his life short and he became one with the Force. Beheaded by the quick, red blade of Ventress, Jedi Master Glaive of the Old Republic died, leaving Zule without a Master, and Obi-Wan and Anakin to finish the fight.
