Unfortunately, the offer was just a ruse, a trick by Vader to get the Gira to betray the Jedi and prove he can break him. Giving the order, Gira watched in horror as Vader gave the order to his forces to destroy the Padawan's ship. Vader left Gira alive, to suffer from the consequences of his actions, and with final words from Darth Vader, Gira knew that his duty was over, there was nothing else to do, except for one final task. Vader and the Emperor had no use for his service, his service to the Padawans was over; he had failed them, and decided that now he would serve nothing at all. Taking his lightsaber, Gira put it to his chest and ignited it as Gira became one with the Force.
