Hoth - Page 2

However, Hoth and Farfalla had some bad blood between them, as Hoth believed Farfalla was a showboat and too concerned with his appearance, not focused in the Force. As the Jedi and Sith clashed on the battlefields of Ruusan, Hoth became more and more distressed at the Jedi's dwindling numbers. Hoth's worries and fears were somewhat allayed by his friend, aide, and Jedi Knight himself, Pernicar. At one point in the battle of Ruusan, a Sith Lord named Darth Bane united the Sith Lords, and with their combined strength let loose a Force-storm that ravaged the lands of Ruusan. When the storm had passed, many Jedi lay dead on the battlefield. Hoth survived, but Pernicar did not. It was about this time that Valenthyne Farfalla arrived with his contingent of knights. However, with the recent devastation, Hoth did not welcome Farfalla's presence. Turning him away, Farfalla left to the far side of the planet to launch his own campaign against Kaan and his army.

Preparing for battle once more, Hoth took it upon himself to pass out lightsabers to the new recruits. It was during this time, that one of Farfalla's aides arrived with news of Farfalla's apologies for his tardiness, temperament, and offered any assistance that Hoth needed. This news lifted Hoth's spirits, and in turn extended his apologies to Valenthyne. Of course Valenthyne had issued no such message. The two messages were designed to unite the two Jedi leaders in their battle against the Sith. It was during this time, that Lord Kaan had retreated to the caves of Ruusan, having gone mad at his defeats at the hands of the Jedi, as well as Valenthyne's timely appearance. In the caves, Kaan came up with a plan that would defeat the Jedi once and for all, but possibly, at the cost of Sith army as well. When Hoth learned of Kaan's construction of a thought bomb, he knew that if Kaan used it, it would wipe out both armies.

Hoth knew his only chance was to confront Kaan himself. Gathering up the few Knights that were not involved in the last battle of Ruusan, and headed to Kaan's caves. At the entrance to the caves, Hoth was met by Valenthyne Farfalla who had learned of the news himself. Together, they entered the caves and faced Kaan. Willing to sacrifice them if it meant the defeat of the Sith. Kaan, mad with power and wanting nothing more than to defeat the Jedi, set off the thought bomb. Hoth, Valenthyne, and Kaan were all immediately consumed and soon the thought bomb consumed all of the Jedi and Sith forces. The dynamics of a thought bomb prevented the spirits of the Jedi from escaping, and their they stayed on Ruusan for a millennium. The location of Ruusan fell into legend over the next thousand years, and the location of the fallen Knights became known as the Valley of the Jedi, and with it, tales of immense Force power. There the spirits of the Jedi stayed until they were finally released almost a thousand years later by Jedi Knight Kyle Katarn.
