Hope of salvation came when Quinlan Vos was accepted into Dooku's inner circle. Discovering Shylar to be alive, Vos certainly had the access to save the Jedi Master, but surrounded by enemies, saving Shylar from certain death would have revealed Vos' true motivations and compromised his mission. Even coming face to face with Shylar, Vos was forced to maintain his visage of treachery. It broke Quinlan's heart to know that his old flame considered him a traitor, and Shylar did indeed pass into the Force with the belief that her former love had not only betrayed the Jedi Order, but her as well.
